Hundreds of artists perform in Israel every year and nearly all of them receive pressure to cancel. Artists are being inundated with petitions, open letters, and sometimes thousands of posts on social media, calling on them to boycott Israel. It is crucial at this time that artists hear from those who support artistic freedom and the power of the arts to build bridges.

We, the undersigned, wholeheartedly support your upcoming visit to Israel. We know that ahead of your arrival, you may hear negative statements about the country from people pressuring you not to go. We believe that these statements are filled with distortions and untruths, and only serve to discourage meaningful discourse and understanding.
Those of us who have been to Israel know that, while not perfect, it is a vibrant country with a diverse population. It is the only real democracy in the Middle East, which allows all of its citizens – regardless of ethnicity, gender, or religion – the opportunity to participate in the running of the government. This includes Arab members in their parliament and Arab justices who sit on the countries Supreme Court.
We wish for a peaceful resolution to the complicated Palestinian/Israeli conflict and believe that culture events can be a part of the solution. Cultural events are a great tool for building bridges, promoting dialogue, and fostering understanding between people. The arts bring people together, and cultural events in Israel, play a small, yet crucial role, to hopefully help achieve that peace.
We therefore urge you to keep your planned trip to Israel and join the ranks of cultural figures who have visited recently, including: Rihanna, Radiohead, Jennifer Lopez, Paul McCartney, Travis Scott, Maroon 5, Imagine Dragons, Tame Impala, Justin Timberlake, Daddy Yankee, Keyon Harrold, Elton John, Lady Gaga, Clean Bandit, The Rolling Stones, Madonna, Pusha T, Martin Garrix, Kygo, Tyga, Wiz Khalifa, Bon Jovi, Enrique Iglesias, The Chainsmokers, Jason Derulo, One Republic, A$AP Ferg, Justin Bieber, The Backstreet Boys, Ziggy Marley, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, Freddie Gibbs, Alicia Keys, 30 Seconds to Mars, REM, Alt J, Afrojack, David Guetta, Nick Cave, Maluma, Guns N’ Roses, Alanis Morisette, Cyndi Lauper, and many more.
