Press Release

CCFP Statement on Current Situation – June 2025

Creative Community for Peace (CCFP) stands firmly with Israel’s right to defend itself and its citizens against existential threats.

Iran is not only a threat to Israel—it is the single most destabilizing force in the region and a global sponsor of terror. Through its support for Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and its tyrannical oppression of its own people, the Iranian government has fueled war, extremism, and suffering across the Middle East. And a nuclear-armed Iran would present an existential threat not only to Israel, but to civilians in the entire region.

Israel, like any sovereign nation, has both the right and the duty to defend its citizens. The strikes on Iranian military assets are a defensive response aimed at degrading Iran’s nuclear capabilities.

Throughout history, Iran has used moments like this to attack Jewish communities around the world. At this tenuous moment, we call on our colleagues in the entertainment community to stand with the Jewish community and use their platforms to encourage peace.

400+ Entertainment Leaders Release Open Letter Calling Out Lies and Deadly Consequences of Anti-Israel Incitement

Notable entertainment leaders from around the globe including Debra Messing, Julianna Margulies, Mayim Bialik, Sharon Osbourne, Jerry O’Connell, Patricia Heaton, Uzo Aduba, Sherry Lansing, Haim Saban, Rebecca De Mornay, Ynon Kreiz, Rick Rosen, Gary Barber, Ben Silverman, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Leo Pearlman, Diane Warren amongst many others, demand an end to amplification of anti-Israel propaganda.

LOS ANGELES, May 29, 2025 — More than 400 entertainment leaders signed an open letter released by the non-profit entertainment industry organization Creative Community For Peace (CCFP) calling for a rejection of extremist rhetoric and the spread of misinformation.

The letter comes in response to the deadly shooting of two young people outside a Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. and after the release of multiple open letters from the entertainment and literature communities filled with fallacious claims and incendiary accusations.

Actress Mayim Bialik said: “History repeats itself: peddling lies about Jews has deadly consequences. For the past two years, public figures and influencers with millions of followers have consistently promoted fallacious and menacing anti-Israel propaganda masquerading as advocacy. This stream of lies against the Jewish people and the Jewish ancestral homeland has now – unsurprisingly to anyone watching closely – turned deadly in the United States. This moment requires public figures to use their platforms responsibly. We implore these individuals to lend their voices to those of moral clarity, peace and tolerance, instead of division, distortion and delegitimization.”

Since October 7th, the rhetoric and actions from anti-Israel activists around the globe routinely embrace extremism and antisemitism.

Following the shooting in Washington, D.C., the suspect repeatedly yelled, “Free Palestine,” showcasing how the anti-Israel movement has been radicalized to violence.

Saban Capital Group Chairman and CEO Haim Saban said: “When public figures accuse Israel of genocide, call for intifada, or claim Jews are colonizers, they may not understand the history they’re invoking — but the people who act on those words often do. This open letter is a plea for truth, for accountability, and for responsibility — especially from those with powerful platforms.”

The letter highlights how celebrities unknowingly platform dangerous propaganda, “Some well-meaning celebrities and public figures have been manipulated by this constant stream of misinformation, which they have also helped to amplify.”

CCFP Chairman/Co-Founder David Renzer and Executive Director Ari Ingel said, For the past 600 days, the anti-Israel movement has espoused an unrelenting stream of extremist rhetoric to demonize Israel and anyone who supports the country — it’s a toxic mix of distortion, bigotry and incitement. Given the power of social media, it’s incumbent on entertainers and public figures, with their ability to influence millions around the world, to use their platforms responsibly. Without a course correction, we will only see more hate, more violence, and more innocent people targeted simply for being Jewish.”

The statement is the first of its kind – a call from the entertainment community to unequivocally condemn the anti-Israel movement’s role in scapegoating and endangering Jews around the globe.

The letter states: “Hamas, Iran, and their allies and ideological sympathizers in the West have flooded the world with their hateful lies and antisemitic incitement since October 7 — lies designed to demonize Israel, the Jewish people, and their supporters.”

The letter concludes: “We call on all our colleagues to reject this extremist rhetoric and the spread of misinformation so that we can all work toward a future in which all Israelis and Palestinians can live side by side in peace and dignity.”

FULL OPEN LETTER

We, the undersigned, are saying enough! Enough with the lies, and enough with the extremism.

Hamas, Iran, and their allies and ideological sympathizers in the West have flooded the world with their hateful lies and antisemitic incitement since October 7 — lies designed to demonize Israel, the Jewish people, and their supporters.

Some well-meaning celebrities and public figures have been manipulated by this constant stream of misinformation, which they have also helped to amplify.

On May 21, 2025 we saw that these lies can have deadly consequences when two young people were murdered outside a Jewish Museum in Washington D.C., as the perpetrator chanted “Free Palestine” — a chant that has now become a call to violence.

War is horrific — where far too many civilians suffer — which is why even though Hamas launched wars against Israel in 2008, 2012, 2014, 2018, and 2021, the wars were short-lived.

But the gruesome Hamas massacre on October 7, 2023 changed everything.

Tragically, the suffering of civilians in Gaza is a strategy of Hamas, with one Hamas official stating that it is “a small price” to pay.

When Russia launched its war on Ukraine, it was the women and children that went underground in the metro system for safety while the men fought above ground.

In contrast, in Gaza —  after Hamas launched their genocidal war on Israel —  it was their fighters who went underground into the Gaza “metro,” while leaving women and children above ground to be used as their human shields.

This is a war Hamas started, and one that they can end by releasing the hostages, by laying down their arms, thereby freeing the Palestinians of Gaza from their tyrannical rule as well.

Yet, Hamas refuses to relent on their demand to have all of the land between the river and the sea cleansed of Jews, as they state in their own charter:

“The Day of Judgment will not come about until Moslems fight Jews and kill them. Then, the Jews will hide behind rocks and trees, and the rocks and trees will cry out: ‘O Moslem, there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him.’ (Article 7).

The anti-Israel campaign shares this extremism.

The anti-Israel campaign refuses to hold Hamas accountable for the death and destruction caused by their illegal and repeated use of hospitals, mosques, schools, and UN facilities to launch attacks and shield their command centers.

The anti-Israel campaign refuses to acknowledge that the vast majority of “journalists” pumping out propaganda in Gaza are, in fact, members or supporters of the terrorist organizations themselves — even joining Hamas on October 7th to help broadcast their massacre inside Israel to the world.

The anti-Israel campaign spreads the antisemitic blood libel that the Jewish state – and all the Jews that support Israel – are bloodthirsty, intentionally targeting civilians, and committing “genocide.”

The anti-Israel campaign makes outrageous claims — such as Israel seeking to murder 14,000 babies in a 48-hour period — claims so egregious they should collapse under the weight of its own absurdity. Yet, these claims are amplified by the media, in addition to celebrities who share this disinformation to their millions of followers on social media.

The anti-Israel campaign claims that Jews are colonizers, when they are indigenous to the land of Israel and have the right to self-determination in their historical homeland as enshrined by the UN Charter.

We reject all these lies.

We reject the anti-Israel movement co-opting every social justice cause — outrageously claiming that to stand with the LGBTQIA+ community, or with anti-racist, anti-colonialist, anti-Islamophobic and anti-antisemitic movements, is to stand against Israel.

This is all done to paint Israel — and Jews around the world — as embodying the world’s ultimate evils. This is antisemitism.

We call on all our colleagues to reject this extremist rhetoric and the spread of misinformation so that we can all work toward a future in which all Israelis and Palestinians can live side by side in peace and dignity.

200+ Entertainment and Business Leaders Demand BBC Accountability

Notable entertainment and business leaders from around the globe including Ozzy Osbourne, Debra Messing, Mayim Bialik, Sharon Osbourne, Leo Pearlman, Danny Cohen, Professor Jonathan Shalit OBE, Raye Cosbert, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Neil Blair, Lyor Cohen, Brian Message amongst many others, call for the establishment of a full independent commission of inquiry into BBC

LONDON, March 6, 2025 — More than 200 leaders from the entertainment and business industries signed an open letter released by the non-profit entertainment industry organization Creative Community For Peace (CCFP) calling for a full investigation into the BBC’s bias against Israel.

The letter comes in response to the airing of the documentary, “Gaza: How to Survive in a Warzone.” The BBC acknowledged the serious journalistic failings in their presentation of the documentary. Not only did they platform Hamas propaganda, but they also used British tax dollars to pay the family of a Senior Hamas official.

Partner at The Blair Partnership Neil Blair said: “This is the latest in a long line of misreporting the Middle East and sugarcoating Hamas and it shatters public trust in the BBC. The BBC has its own rules to follow, as well as the law of the land, and its approach to both has been cavalier at best. Unfortunately, this is just the tip of the iceberg and there needs to be a thorough, independent and transparent investigation process so the BBC can get its house in order and restore public confidence in its output.”

Since October 7th, the British Jewish community has consistently criticized the BBC’s coverage of Israel.

The Board of Deputies of British Jews, the Jewish Leadership Council and the Community Security Trust, which monitors antisemitism and provides security for Jewish communities in Britain, accused the BBC as being “institutionally hostile to Israel.” The recent airing of “Gaza: How to Survive in a Warzone” substantiates the ongoing critiques of the British Jewish community.

Co-CEO of Fulwell Entertainment Leo Pearlman said: “As antisemitism explodes across the globe, the spread of misinformation is not just irresponsible, it’s dangerous. When major trusted media outlets like the BBC amplify biased narratives and allow propaganda to be broadcast as truth, it fuels anti-Israel sentiment, emboldens extremists, and puts Jewish communities around the world at risk. Accurate, responsible journalism is not just an ethical obligation; it’s a matter of safety.”

The letter highlights the gravity of the moment for BBC, “This is a true crisis for the broadcaster, which it is treating as a minor inconvenience whilst its highest paid presenter is allowed to openly deny there is an issue at all.”

CCFP Executive Director Ari Ingel said, “At a time when accuracy and responsible reporting are more critical than ever, media outlets must uphold the highest standards, not serve as a megaphone for terrorist organizations. This is even more important when the media outlet is a public service broadcaster. So far, BBC’s public response does not reflect the seriousness of their mistakes. They not only failed to inform the public but misled them with Hamas-sanctioned propaganda.”

The statement is the first of its kind – a call from the entertainment and business community to unequivocally condemn the BBC’s response to this crisis. And to call for the establishment of a full independent commission of inquiry into the processes that allowed this documentary to air and to other instances of bias the past 16+ months.

The letter states: “It is time for the BBC to acknowledge that it has a systemic problem of bias against Israel of which this is the tip of the iceberg.”

The letter concludes: “This episode makes mockery of the Reithian Principle – to inform, educate and entertain—widely understood and recognized as a distillation of the BBC’s mission and as such is embedded in the BBC Royal Charter. FULL OPEN LETTER

We, the undersigned are calling for a full commission of inquiry into the recent actions taken by the BBC. The BBC has now acknowledged the very serious journalistic failings in their presentation of the documentary, “Gaza: How to Survive a Warzone,” and the damage it has caused to the BBC’s reputation.

It is time for the BBC to acknowledge that it has a systemic problem of bias against Israel of which this is the tip of the iceberg. This is a true crisis for the broadcaster, which it is treating as a minor inconvenience whilst its highest paid presenter is allowed to openly deny there is an issue at all.

This episode makes mockery of the Reithian Principle – to inform, educate and entertain—widely understood and recognized as a distillation of the BBC’s mission and as such is embedded in the BBC Royal Charter. The board and senior management should be considering their positions.

The unwillingness of the BBC to address these problems transparently over the last 16+ months is what has led to the debacle.

Not only did the BBC platform a Hamas propaganda documentary — that featured the family of a Hamas leader and inaccurate translations — but it is has now admitted to actually using British taxpayer money to pay the family of a senior Hamas official.

The BBC must allow for a full independent commission of inquiry to investigate the processes that led to this documentary being produced, and the pervasive anti-Israel bias that has been allowed to pervade through the BBC system unobstructed.

1000+ Authors, Writers, Journalists, Publishers, and Entertainment Leaders Stand United Against Cultural Boycotts

Writers from around the globe including Lee Child (creator of Jack Reacher), Bernard Henri-Lévy (Philosopher and Author), Herta Müller (Author, Poet, and Nobel Prize Award Winner), Sir Simon Schama (Historian and Author), Howard Jacobson (Booker Prize-winning Author), Simon Sebag Montefiore (Historian and Author), Adam Gopnik (Writer), Yossi Klein Halevi (Author), David Mamet (Author & Pulitzer Prize Winner), Elfriede Jelinek (Author and Nobel Prize Award Winner) join entertainment leaders, Mayim Bialik, Debra Messing, Julianna Margulies, Scooter Braun, Haim Saban, Ynon Kreiz, Ozzy Osbourne, and Gene Simmons, amongst many others, to reject boycotts against authors and literary institutions.

LOS ANGELES (October 30, 2024) — More than 1000 leaders from the literary and entertainment industry signed an open letter released by the non-profit entertainment industry organization Creative Community For Peace (CCFP) in support of freedom of expression and against discriminatory boycotts.

The letter comes in response to continued efforts to boycott, harass, and scapegoat Jewish and Israeli authors and literary institutions. Among the signatories are Nobel laureates, Pulitzer Prize winners, and Booker Prize winners.

Booker Prize-winning author, Howard Jacobson said: “Art is the antithesis to a political party. It is a meeting place not an echo chamber. Art explores, discovers, differs, questions and surprises. Precisely where a door should be forever open, the boycotters slam it closed.”

Recent calls to boycott Israeli literary institutions follow a year filled with efforts to demonize and ostracize Jewish authors across the globe. In the last year, bookstore appearances have been canceled based on authors’ identities and book readings have been shut down. Activists have publicized lists of “Zionist” authors to harass and just last week, ads for a book with ‘Israel’ in the title were rejected.

Author of the Jack Reacher novel series, Lee Child said: “Politically targeting novelists, authors, and publishing houses based on their nationality is misguided. At a time when dialogue is paramount and when compromise can lead to peace, castigation and blanket boycotts are counterproductive. The written word, and the dissemination of it, must always be protected, especially in times of heightened tension. And to achieve peace, we must humanize one another and build bridges across communities through the open exchange of ideas. Literature allows for that. Boycotts hinder it.”

The letter highlights the unique role that writers and books play in society, “We believe that writers, authors, and books — along with the festivals that showcase them — bring people together, transcend boundaries, broaden awareness, open dialogue, and can affect positive change.” It continues, “We believe that anyone who works to subvert this spirit merely adds yet another roadblock to freedom, justice, equality, and peace that we all desperately desire.”

Actress and Author Mayim Bialik said, “Harassing authors, canceling bookstore appearances, and boycotting people based solely on their identity is disturbing and polarizing in ways that cannot be dismissed or minimized. Attempts to dictate “who” or “what” should be published have nothing to do with any path to coexistence or peace. This kind of rhetoric encourages demonization and hatred. As an author and as a creative, I believe in peace, I believe in humanity, and I believe in meaningful discourse. Silencing and sowing discord in this way reduces complex individuals to oversimplified caricatures which only hardens existing hostility and makes the hope for peace inch farther away.”

Philosopher and Author Bernard-Henri Lévy said: “I have always believed in the power of ideas and truth. I have always been in favor of debate, clash of opinions, even the confrontation of convictions. But what we have here is not a clash of opinions or a debate. Boycotting Israeli writers, publishers and festivals is pure anti-Semitism – and it’s anti-democratic and dangerous. The goal of this boycott is the delegitimization of the only Jewish state in the world—Israel. It is a moral obscenity and must be firmly condemned by all free-thinking and democratic citizens of the world.”

Author and historian Simon Sebag Montefiore said: “The resort to witch hunt is always dangerous and ugly especially when the inquisitors are writers. History is full of examples of self-righteous cadres of self-appointed judges who tried to enforce their version of purity by excluding people. Whatever one thinks of this tragic Middle Eastern war, who judges who is good, who bad? Once started where would it stop? Who is pure enough?

The statement is the first of its kind – a call from the literature and entertainment community to unequivocally voice support against boycott attempts based on identity or litmus test.

The letter states: “Regardless of one’s views on the current conflict, boycotts of creatives and creative institutions simply create more divisiveness and foment further hatred.” The letter concludes: “We call on our friends and colleagues worldwide to join us in expressing their support for Israeli and Jewish publishers, authors, and all book festivals, publishers, and literary agencies that refuse to capitulate to censorship based on identity or litmus tests.”

CCFP Executive Director Ari Ingel said, “Authors, writers, and literary groups have faced non-stop harassment by a dedicated group of illiberal activists since October 7th. This is not just about Israeli authors. This is a coordinated campaign to bully and threaten anyone who refuses to condemn Israel, which targets Jews and their allies worldwide. These boycott calls, now being led by members of the literary community themselves, are reminiscent of the 1933 boycott of Jewish authors, when antisemites burned over 25,000 books. The works of Jewish authors like Albert Einstein and Sigmund Freud, alongside American works by Ernest Hemingway and Helen Keller were burned. This is where things are once again headed.”

FULL OPEN LETTER

We, the undersigned writers, authors, and entertainment industry professionals reject the calls to boycott Israeli and Jewish writers, publishers, authors, book festivals and literary agencies, along with those who support, work with, or platform them.

We continue to be shocked and disappointed to see members of the literary community harass and ostracize their colleagues because they don’t share a one-sided narrative in response to the greatest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust.

Israel is fighting existential wars against Hamas and Hezbollah, both US, UK, and European Union designated terrorist groups.

The exclusion of anyone who doesn’t unilaterally condemn Israel is an inversion of morality and an obfuscation of reality.

History is full of examples of self-righteous sects, movements and cults who have used short-lived moments of power to enforce their vision of purity, to persecute, exclude, boycott and intimidate those with whom they disagreed, who made lists of people with ‘bad’ views, who burned ‘sinful’ books (and sometimes ‘sinful’ people).

Over the past year, planned bookstore appearances by Jewish authors have been canceled, ads for books about Israel have been rejected, book readings have been shut down, literary groups have been targeted, and activists have publicized lists of “Zionist” authors to harass.

The instincts and motivations behind cultural boycotts, in practice and throughout history, are directly in opposition to the liberal values most writers hold sacred.

Boycotts against authors and those who work with them is illiberal and dangerous.

In fact, we believe that writers, authors, and books — along with the festivals that showcase them — bring people together, transcend boundaries, broaden awareness, open dialogue, and can affect positive change.

We believe that anyone who works to subvert this spirit merely adds yet another roadblock to freedom, justice, equality, and peace that we all desperately desire.

Regardless of one’s views on the current conflict, boycotts of creatives and creative institutions simply create more divisiveness and foment further hatred. We call on our friends and colleagues worldwide to join us in expressing their support for Israeli and Jewish publishers, authors, and all book festivals, publishers, and literary agencies that refuse to capitulate to censorship based on identity or litmus tests.

More Than 500 Artists and Entertainment Industry Leaders Gathered To Honor Mayim Bialik, Ben Silverman, Elliot Grainge, Phylicia Fant, and Josh Binder at Creative Community for Peace’s 6th Annual ‘Ambassadors of Peace’ Event

Multiple speakers highlighted the need for dialogue and education and the entertainment industry’s responsibility to use their platform to promote peace and understanding

LOS ANGELES – On Tuesday, September 24th, Creative Community For Peace (CCFP), an entertainment industry non-profit organization, hosted its sixth annual “Ambassadors of Peace” (AOP) event to honor prominent entertainment industry leaders for their contributions in using the arts to foster unity, promote peace, and bridge cultural divides.

This year’s honorees were Mayim Bialik, Actress, Author, and Television Host, Ben Silverman, Chairman and Co-CEO of Propagate Content; Elliot Grainge, CEO of Atlantic Music Group and Founder of 10K Projects, Phylicia Fant, Head of Music Industry & Culture Collaborations at Amazon Music and manger to artists such Andra Day and Anthony Hamilton, and Josh Binder, Founding Partner at Rothenberg, Mohr & Binder LLP whose clients include Top Dawg Entertainment, Marshmello, Gunna, and Lisa of Blackpink.

The event was held at the Beverly Hills private residence of Aton Ben-Horin, Executive VP A&R, Warner Music Group & CEO of Plush Management.

Artists and entertainment leaders from across the industry were in attendance such as Grammy Award Winning and 13x Oscar Nominated Songwriter Diane Warren, President of Virgin Music Jacqueline Saturn, President of Music Publishing at Roc Nation Andrew Gould,  television producer and talent manager Benny Medina, CEO of Top Dawg Entertainment Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, Founder and Partner at 3 Arts Entertainment Michael Rotenberg, Co-Founder of Endeavor Rick Rosen; Artist Ava Max, artist and author Rachel Platten, actress and artist Andra Day, Co-President of Artists First Brian Dobbins, Good Charlotte’s Joel Madden, Co-Founders of Best Friends Music Brandon Goodman & Danny Rukasin, CEO of Universal Music Publishing Group Jody Gerson, COO and Co-Chairman of Warner Records Tom Corson, and CEO and Co-Chairman of Warner Records Aaron Bay-Schuck amongst many others.

Previous Ambassador of Peace honorees include luminaries such as Actor Eugene Levy, Actor and Director Liev Schreiber, Showrunner Darren Star, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason jr., Grammy Award winning and 14x Oscar nominated songwriter Diane Warren, reggae legend Ziggy Marley, music mogul Scooter Braun, Chairman & CEO of Sony Music Latin America Afo Verde, and CEO and Co-Chairman of Warner Records Aaron Bay-Schuck amongst others.

Paying tributes for this year’s honorees included media personality and film producer, Ryan Seacrest, rapper Flavor Flav, comedian and showrunner Larry Wilmore, model and media personality Sofia Richie Grainge, music producer and DJ Marshmello, writer and producer Jenji Kohan, artist and actress JoJo, comedian Modi Rosenfeld, Chairman and CEO of Saban Capital Group Haim Saban, actor and artist Andra Day, songwriter and producer Salaam Remi, producer & founder of So So Def Recordings Jermain Dupri, actress Melissa Rauch, Senior Vice President at Prime Video & Amazon Studios Mike Hopkins, comedian Elon Gold, and actor Liev Schreiber.

The event also featured a soulful performance by Grammy Award-winning artist, Anthony Hamilton.

CCFP Chairman and Co-Founder, David Renzer, opened the evening stating, “We’re all here tonight as  part of one entertainment community, celebrating our biggest event ever with an amazing, deserving group of honorees who are leaders in our industry.  In this challenging time CCFP has expanded its mission to fight hate, galvanize the entertainment community to push back on antisemitism and support Israel.  We also believe in the power of the arts to help build bridges of peace and hope to return to focus on these initiatives after these difficult times of war.”

The evening featured heartfelt speeches from the honorees, each reflecting on their personal commitment to using their platforms to advance peace and unity:

Honoree Mayim Bialik said, “I never imagined I’d need the kind of support that CCFP has provided. I’m humbled to be recognized. As a scientist, a peace lover, and an activist, I’m just one person trying to figure out where we belong in this upside-down world. Thank you all for being here, and thank you for supporting CCFP, which allows so many of us to stand against discrimination and intimidation.”

Honoree Ben Silverman remarked, “The arts fuel my life, and television drives my ambitions. I believe that everyone should have the freedom to sing their song and speak their truth. The idea of banning people from expressing themselves is wrong. I’m so proud of the honorees here tonight. We all care about the freedom of our families. I encourage everyone to donate to this incredible organization. I also want to thank my colleagues; we’ve had countless conversations about Israel’s place in the world. I’m so glad we’re all here together. In these dark moments, there is only light.”

Honoree Elliot Grainge reflected, “Music has the power to bring us together, something we need now more than ever. That’s why CCFP is so important today. What we do as an industry and a culture has the power to unite us all. All of us have the ability to foster both physical and mental space for understanding. And that’s the true meaning behind unity.”

Honoree Phylicia Fant said, “While I’m thankful for every position I’ve ever held, my true role and purpose in these organizations extends far beyond what my title says; which is to demonstrate what is possible when you believe that anything is possible; to break ceilings and barriers; to make global impact; to uplift and mentor my team; to support my peers; to champion women. But don’t get me wrong, the work I was hired to do is definitely going to get done as well.”

Honoree Josh Binder shared, “We need more dialogue, more education, more tolerance, and less division and hate. Community doesn’t work if it only works for your community. It’s fake news that a Jew and a Muslim can’t accomplish great things together.”

The evening, while celebratory, also reflected on the ongoing challenges facing Jewish communities and the entertainment industry. Since the  October 7th attacks nearly a year ago, and amidst rising tensions in the Middle East, the Jewish community remains on edge. Speakers also acknowledged the continued importance of using their platforms to combat antisemitism and build tolerance.

Ari Ingel, CCFP Executive Director, closed the evening with a message to everyone in attendance, sharing, “These six honorees embody how we should live each day — with purpose and as agents of change. Everyone, all of you here, are change-agents, and have the ability to affect positive change in the world. To effect positive change for the Jewish people, and to effect positive change for the way Israel is seen around the world. And is it incumbent on all of us to do all we can,  to use our platforms to make sure that we continue to have a thriving Jewish community here in America and a thriving State of Israel.”

Open Letter – Eurovision 2024

Helen Mirren, Liev Schreiber, Gene Simmons, Scooter Braun, Boy George, Mayim Bialik, Haim Saban, Julianna Margulies, Sharon Osbourne, Debra Messing, Emmy Rossum Support Israel’s Continued Inclusion in Eurovision

Jody Gerson, Julie Greenwald, Ginnifer Goodwin, Selma Blair, Noa Kirel, Tom Rothman, Harvey Mason jr., Skyler Astin, Gregg Sulkin, Patricia Heaton, Diane Warren, Tracy-Ann Oberman among 400+ celebrities and entertainment industry professionals who signed an open letter rejecting attempts to banish Israel from the contest

LOS ANGELES (February 14, 2024) — More than 400+ leaders from the entertainment industry have signed an open letter released by the non-profit entertainment industry organization Creative Community For Peace in support of the European Broadcasting Union’s (EBU) public commitment to include Israel in the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest.

The letter comes in response to others who have demanded that Israel be disinvited from the contest. The letter highlights Eurovision’s unique ability to unify people from diverse backgrounds and music’s capacity to effect positive change in the world. The letter states that the annual event, with more viewers than the Super Bowl, is a celebration of unity and should not be used as a tool for politics.

Scooter Braun said, “Music is a place for unity not division. It is a language that should always bring us together. Artists should never be discriminated against for who they are, who they love, or where they’re born. These boycott efforts do nothing but distract from the uplifting and unifying power of music – something we need now more than ever.”

Gene Simmons said, “Music unites people from all backgrounds. It’s the one language that everyone can understand. It’s a beautiful thing and a great way to bring people together. Those advocating to exclude an Israeli singer from Eurovision don’t move the needle towards peace, but only further divide the world.”

The statement is the first of its kind – a call from the entertainment industry unequivocally voicing support for Israel’s inclusion in Eurovision.

Mayim Bialik said, “After a horrendous violent attack on Israeli civilians, calls for boycotts and excluding Israeli artists from international events simply because they are Israeli is abhorrent and shameful. Targeting Israeli musicians in this way tarnishes the unifying spirit that is Eurovision.”

The over 400+ Signatories Include: Helen Mirren (Actress); Liev Schreiber (Actor); Boy George (Artist); Gene Simmons (Artist/Co-founder KISS & multi-hyphenate businessman); Mayim Bialik (Actress); Julianna Margulies (Actor/Producer/Author); Emmy Rossum (Actress); Debra Messing (Actress); Ginnifer Goodwin (Actress); Haim Saban (Chairman and CEO, Saban Capital Group); Scooter Braun (Founder/CEO, Hybe America); Selma Blair (Actress); Harvey Mason jr. (CEO of the Recording Academy); Gregg Sulkin (Actor); Skylar Astin (Actor); Julie Greenwald (Chairperson & CEO, Atlantic Records Group); Jody Gerson (Chairperson and CEO, Universal Music Publishing Group); Aaron Bay-Schuck (CEO/Co-Chairman Warner Records); Dan Rosen (President, Warner Music Australasia); Joshua Malina (Actor); Patricia Heaton (Actress and Producer); Noa Kirel (Artist); Jennifer Jason Leigh (Actress); David Draiman (Disturbed); Tom Arnold (Actor); Tracy-Ann Oberman (Actress); Sharon Osbourne (Manager, TV Personality); Tom Rothman (Chairman, Columbia Pictures); Diane Warren (Songwriter); Sherry Lansing (Former CEO of Paramount Pictures); Rick Rosen (Co-Founder, Endeavor); Ben Silverman (Chairman & Co-CEO, Propagate Content); Alison Kaye (President, SB Projects); Orly Marley (President, Tuff Gong Worldwide); Ynon Kreiz (Chairman and CEO, Mattel, Inc.); Gary Barber (Chairman and CEO, Spyglass Media Group); Raye Cosbert (Managing Director, Metropolis Music); David Levy (Partner, William Morris Endeavor Entertainment); Jacqueline Saturn (President, Virgin Music); John Ondrasik (Artist, Five For Fighting); Emmanuelle Chriqui (Actress); Samantha Ronson (Artist); Colin Lester OBE (Founder/Chairman JEM Music Group); David Renzer (Former CEO/Chairman Universal Music Publishing); Paul Kemsley (Manager, Nixxi Entertainment); Odeya Rush (Actress); Modi Wiczyk (Co-Founder and Co-CEO, MRC); and David Zedeck (Global Head of Music at UTA), amongst others, which you can see below.

“We have been shocked and disappointed to see some members of the entertainment community calling for Israel to be banished from the Contest for responding to the greatest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust,” the letter reads. “Under the cover of thousands of rockets fired indiscriminately into civilian populations, Hamas murdered and kidnapped innocent men, women, and children,” it continues.

On Eurovision’s impact, the letter states, “We believe that unifying events such as singing competitions are crucial to help bridge our cultural divides and unite people of all backgrounds through their shared love of music.” The letter concludes: “Those who are calling for Israel’s exclusion are subverting the spirit of the Contest and turning it from a celebration of unity into a tool of politics.”

CCFP’s Chairman, David Renzer, and Executive Director, Ari Ingel said, “We join entertainment industry leaders in rejecting the vilification of Israel on the global music stage. After thousands of innocent Israelis were killed, over 360 of them at a music festival as they danced in celebration of life, to see some respond in this fashion is shameful. We hope Eurovision stands firm in the face of this misguided, discriminatory boycott attempt. We want the world to know that the entertainment industry supports the Contest and all this year’s amazing participants, including Israel’s.”

OPEN LETTER

We, the undersigned members of the entertainment industry, are writing to express our support for Israel’s continued inclusion in the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest.

We have been shocked and disappointed to see some members of the entertainment community calling for Israel to be banished from the Contest for responding to the greatest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust.

October 7th was a day in which a music festival meant to celebrate life was attacked by Hamas and saw 364 innocent civilians killed, hundreds maimed and brutalized, over 40 festivalgoers taken hostage, and many raped.

Israel is fighting a war against a European Union-designated terrorist group that once again broke a ceasefire that day, and then went on to slaughter over 1,200 people. This current round of fighting is not a war that Israel wanted or started. To punish Israel would be an inversion of justice.

Israel also has a long and storied history in Eurovision. This includes winning the Contest in 1978, 1979, 1998, and 2018 and having a diverse group of contestants representing the country, including PalestiniansEthiopians, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Israel then hosted the Contest in 1979, 1999, and 2019. In fact, Eurovision fans voted “Dare to Dream,” the 64th Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv, the best Eurovision production of the decade.

Furthermore, we believe that unifying events such as singing competitions are crucial to help bridge our cultural divides and unite people of all backgrounds through their shared love of music.

The annual Eurovision Song Contest embodies this unifying spirit. Every year, millions of people across Europe and around the world join in a massive display of cultural exchange and celebration of music.

Those who are calling for Israel’s exclusion are subverting the spirit of the Contest and turning it from a celebration of unity into a tool of politics.

We support all of this year’s contestants as well as your decision to reject the calls to expel Israel from the Contest. We are looking forward to a successful and exciting Eurovision 2024.

More than 500 Artists and Entertainment Industry Leaders Gathered To Honor Liev Schreiber, Kat Graham, Ezekiel Lewis, Aaron Rosenberg, and Gustavo Lopez At Creative Community For Peace’s 5th Annual ‘Ambassadors Of Peace’ Event

On the heels of the release of an Open Letter in support of Israel signed by 2,000+ entertainment leaders, Creative Community For Peace (CCFP), held its fifth annual “Ambassadors Of Peace” (AOP) event.

AOP honors entertainment leaders who use their platforms to effect positive change in the world and who advance CCFP’s central belief that the arts and entertainment are a powerful force for building cultural bridges.

In addition to celebrating peace, this year’s event contained a more somber tone than in years past. AOP opened with a moment of silence for victims of the Hamas terrorist attack in Israel on October 7th and a collective rendition of “Oseh Shalom,” and the speeches highlighted not only the tenuous situation in Israel, but also the sense of anger, sadness, and fear that Jews around the world feel in this moment.

On receiving the award, Liev Schreiber reflected on the urgency of this moment, “Last week, a friend of mine shared an old Hasidic quote with me that took my breath away: ‘There is nothing so whole as a broken heart’… It seems to me that maybe that’s what’s being asked of each of us right now, to think and to act with a broken heart.”

Ari Ingel (Executive Director, CCFP); Ynon Kreiz (Chairman and CEO, Mattel, Inc.); Rick Rosen (Co-Founder, Endeavor); David Renzer (Chairman & Co-Founder of CCFP, Former CEO/Chairman of Universal Music Publishing).

Honoree Gustavo Lopez shared, “We are here after the horrific events of October 7th (jn Israel) hoping they never ever repeat themselves. In no place on our earth should this ever happen…join me for this to end soon and for peace to reign.”

Steve Schnur (Co-Founder of CCFP, Worldwide Executive & Music President, Electronic Arts); David Renzer (Chairman & Co-Founder of CCFP, Former CEO/Chairman of Universal Music Publishing); Julie Greenwald (Chairman and CEO of Atlantic Music Group); Ari Ingel (Executive Director, CCFP).

will.i.am (Artist, Producer) presents the Ambassadors of Peace award to Zeke Lewis.

CCFP Chairman, David Renzer shared, “To think that 260 innocent girls and young men were killed at a concert is beyond comprehension. It’s unspeakable. I know that you join me in the tears I’ve shed, and the tears we shed for all innocent victims. CCFP believes in coexistence and the power of music and the arts to unite. And that’s what we really have to hope to turn to in better times.”

Honoree Aaron Rosenberg said, “Every group of ‘other,’ whether large or small, deserves to have a homeland where they are free and safe to be ‘other’ without worrying about hate, without worrying about terror…We cannot stand idly by, we cannot stay silent and allow the hate and terror and false propaganda from others to wipe Israel off the map ‘from the river to the sea.’ Everyone, Israelis and Palestinians deserve, everyone deserves a homeland where they’re free and safe to raise their children in peace.”

CCFP Executive Director Ari Ingel stated, “Americans are finally seeing what CCFP has been screaming about for years, that these anti-Israel groups and BDS activists aren’t interested in peace or coexistence…they’re interested in the destruction of Israel and the demonization of Jews. That’s what BDS is, that’s who these anti-Israel activists are.”

Honoree Ezekiel Lewis shared, “In pain and mourning, we come here tonight seeking peace…This room gives me hope, is a microcosm of what the world can be—people from all different religious and ethnic backgrounds uniting to stand for peace. This is why I value the mission of CCFP, creating an environment where the magic of education and understanding can happen between different communities…. Let the example of this room, this microcosm of peace and diversity, permeate throughout the world. In honor of all of our ancestors, let us continue to use music to unite the world.”

Michelle Jubelirer (Chairperson & CEO of Capitol Music Group)

LOS ANGELES (October 30, 2023) —Today, a coalition of celebrities launched a campaign to highlight the now 239+ innocent civilians currently held hostage by Hamas terrorists in Gaza. The campaign, #ReleaseTheHostagesNow, was organized in part by Creative Community For Peace (CCFP), an entertainment industry non-profit organization; Nina Tassler (television executive and former Chairwoman of CBS Entertainment); and Emilio Schenker (CEO, Sipur Studios), in full cooperation with the official Hostages and Missing Families Forum.

The viral campaign, which has already gained significant attention, hopes to leverage entertainment leaders’ social media audiences to galvanize international support for the hostages and their families, and ultimately to expedite their release from captivity.

This campaign serves as a stark reminder of the terrorist attack suffered by Israel, emphasizing the urgent need for countries like Qatar and Turkey to press Hamas to release the hostages.

Entertainment leaders Amy Schumer, Debra Messing, Julianna Margulies, Michael Douglas, Billy Crystal, Mayim Bialik, Mandy Moore, Chelsea Handler, Sharon Osbourne, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Zooey Deschanel, Elizabeth Banks, Jerry O’Connell, Joshua Malina, Alyssa Milano, Chuck Norris, Phil Rosenthal, Dr. Phil, Dean Cain, Kristen Chenoweth, Josh Peck, Juliette Lewis, Howie Mandel, Marg Helgenberger, Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz Beckham, Constance Zimmer, Helen Mirren, Jamie Lee Curtis, and many others are among the hundreds of people using their platforms to amplify the voices of those who have been silenced. Calling upon people around the world to advocate for those who cannot share their own stories. Together, we must relentlessly fight for the freedom of these innocent civilians and demonstrate our solidarity in the face of such injustices.

Mayim Bialik shared, “This urgent campaign underscores the need for the international community to put pressure on the states that have influence with Hamas to free these individuals from captivity. It is vital that the world does not forget the faces of these innocent victims – they are the reason Israel continues to fight this war on terror and they are the reason the world must take a stand against this hatred and say NO MORE.”

Julianna Marguiles added, “With every passing hour, the health and safety of each hostage becomes more tenuous. We hope this campaign brings their stories to life, offers the families solace knowing they aren’t alone, and moves us one step closer to their safe release. With each share, like, and comment of support, the world unites against terrorism and in support of peace.”

The now 239+ kidnapped hostages represent the human toll of terrorism, and each participating celebrity and influencer is sharing a different image of an innocent person demanding their immediate release. Tragically, the official number of hostages continues to rise. Yet, due to the safety concerns for the hostages still in captivity, and the fluid situation, only the names and faces of the known victims are being shared.

CCFP Executive Director, Ari Ingel stated, “We must use every tool at our disposal to support these innocent victims of terror. These now 239+ hostages are from 25 different countries and range from toddlers who are just a few months old to Holocaust survivors in their late 80’s. Shamefully, posters of the kidnapped around the world have been torn down in antisemitic hatred. These are posters no one can tear down.”

The campaign calls on the world to stand against terrorism and to express unwavering support for the immediate release of these hostages.
